Super Bowl 49!

Look at prior posts dr33...I did give the D credit for setting the stage for Brady to lead a comeback. Without their stops, that comeback never happens. I never said Brady won the game by himself. There were multiple contributors. Brady did what Brady often does in these games, but it was a team win.

As for what Brady did being unmatched and his doing something that a dozen QBs couldn't have done:

Among the records that Brady broke were: Most completions in a game (37), most completions in a half (20), most Super Bowl starts (6) and most career touchdown passes in the Super Bowl (13).

And of course, he played a huge role in the Pats coming back from 10 points down against a defense that many considered to be the NFL's best.  I'll be fair and admit that that unit clearly wasn't at full strength (they were already a bit banged-up and got even more so during the game).  And like we both and many others have noted:  to get a chance to make a comeback, the guys on the other side of the ball have to do their jobs too.  They did at a very critical time.  They also held the fort when the Pats weren't scoring early.

What isn't getting mentioned much is that the Pats pretty much ignored running the ball in two out of the three games (the obvious exception being against the Colts, and considering all of the success the Pats have had running the ball down the Colts' throats, who could blame them for continuing to do it).  14 yards rushing against the Ravens and 57 yards rushing against the Seahawks.  Circumstances obviously played a role in both of those games (Pats trailing by 14 and 10 in the second half), but you still usually don't see such a pronounced imbalance.
